While growing up, I always thought it would be cool to move out of Oklahoma. I was especially drawn to major cities and the coasts. I was your typical teenager – curious to see what else the world had to offer.

As an advertising major at Oklahoma State University, I landed an incredible internship with an advertising agency in Kansas City. After graduation, I started my career with the same agency.

While in Kansas City, 9/11 happened and to me, things changed. People were worried about their safety, their jobs…and I realized that I needed to be closer to my family. While I had never officially lived in Tulsa, OK, I was very familiar with the city and my then fiancé had lived here his whole life. Both of our families were located in Oklahoma and Tulsa really appealed to me with shopping, as well as an abundance of arts, and friendly people. I got spoiled growing up in Oklahoma where everyone is nice and helpful. You just don’t find that everywhere.

Once I moved here, I began to realize other great things about Tulsa – like the fact that you don’t sit in traffic for very long, which gives you more free time. Also, housing is much more affordable as compared to other places. I also now have a daughter and I am so glad I live here so she can regularly see her grandparents.

I also have such a fun job…I get to promote Tulsa and meet dynamic young professionals all the time through Tulsa’s Young Professionals where I serve as Director for the organization. I get to take advantage of many of Tulsa’s perks while also sharing them with other young professionals. Tulsa has definitely become a city near and dear to my heart and I’m so proud of our city. I’m also happy to be playing such a significant role in making the city an even more attractive place for young professionals.
