I grew up in Broken Bow. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma, I moved to Tulsa where I worked as a lobbyist for Williams. I met my husband Doug, a TU graduate and chemical engineer, while racing bicycles for the Tulsa Wheelmen Bike Club.
We eventually moved to Odessa, TX, but moved back to Broken Bow in 1995
When we made the decision to move home to Oklahoma, we both went to our employers to tender our resignations. Both of us were told not to quit!
Today, Doug works via home computer/network and continues to do engineering, and teach online courses at the University of Texas. So, even though we are where we want to be, we’re still able to keep our work ties to Texas, even after living in Oklahoma the past 13 years!
We know we are not alone; there are several new cabin owners in the area that are keeping their out-of-state jobs, while living in Oklahoma.
