I grew up near Houston. In the fall of 1994, I began my freshman year at OU. I loved every minute of my college experience.
However, by the time I was applying for internships and looking for jobs, I realized Dallas’ job market was much more attractive than Oklahoma’s.
I took a job in Dallas, but OU football kept my husband and me coming back to Oklahoma. We soon began to think of what it would be like to live in Norman just like some of our friends. I also realized Oklahoma had come a long way since I was in college; the economy was much better, jobs were plentiful, and the entertainment was better.
My husband soon heard of a great opening at OU through our friends in Norman. It was a great fit for him and once I landed a job at one of Oklahoma’s best companies, the move just seemed to be a no brainer. I was worried that I would see a pay cut, moving from Dallas to Oklahoma City, but actually I was offered more.
We moved back in November of 2007 and are glad we did. We love living in a place where life is less hectic.
Oklahoma has definitely changed for the better. I see not only the potential for Oklahoma to become an even better place to live but also the passion people here have of making it the best.
